Local bands urged to join looming battle

30 Mar, 2007 08:40 AM
YOUNG bands are encouraged to nominate for the 2007 Murraylands Battle of the Bands.

Following the success of the event in 2004, 2005 and 2006, the Murray Bridge council Youth Advisory Committee is calling for expressions of interest to be part of an even bigger 2007 event on Saturday, April 21, at Murray Bridge.

The free event, which is drug and alcohol free, will not only feature some of the best local young talent, but will host a range of special guest bands between 3 and 6pm.

These special appearances will include 2006 Battle of the Bands winners Roger Who, Gawler rock band The Secret Game and Adelaide punk rock band Mere Theory.

The Battle of the Bands will be the climax of a week of events to celebrate young people as part of National Youth Week.

The winning band will have the opportunity to record its own master CD, with a weekend recording session in a leading Adelaide recording studio.

- Details: To register your band visit murraylandsyouth.com.au or pick up a registration form from the Local Government Centre or Soundzone Music, Murray Bridge. For further information contact youth engagement officer Lisa Hammond on 8539 1110 or email l.hammond@murraybridge.sa.gov.au
