Body discovered at Scrubby Flat

03 Jul, 2009 11:23 AM
POLICE believe a body found yesterday at Scrubby Flat, north east of Mannum, is that of a missing 69-year-old man.

The body was found at about 10am following a week-long search of the area.

Police had been looking for a Scrubby Flat man after friends and family reported him missing late last month.

Divers scoured the river on Monday but police called off the search on Tuesday because of stormy weather.

State Emergency Service and Country Fire Service crews also conducted water and land searches for much of the past week.

A spokesperson for South Australia Police confirmed police believed the body to be that of the missing man. He said there were no suspicious circumstances.

The missing man’s daughter, Vicki Crabb, told The Standard on Monday she was not confident her father would be found alive.

She said police began searching Scrubby Flat after she discovered her father’s beanie in the area last week.
