Murray Bridge TAFE to share in funding

03 Jul, 2009 11:24 AM
MURRAY Bridge TAFE will share $1.68 million of Federal Government money with six other South Australian TAFE campuses.

As part of the Government’s $2.63 Better TAFE Facilities fund, the money will be used to purchase and upgrade industrial training equipment.

Other SA campuses to benefit from the funding include Whyalla, Port Pirie, Mount Gambier, Berri, Port Lincoln and Roxby Downs.

The Whyalla and Mount Gambier campuses will receive further funding from the Government’s $10m Training Infrastructure Investment for Tomorrow fund to create new classrooms and workshops.

Federal Training and Further Education Minister Michael O’Brien said the infrastructure funding would help to create up to 56,000 new training places over the next four years.

“Our training needs are changing, with students and employers demanding more modern, dynamic and flexible approaches to learning and more environmentally sustainable facilities,” he said.

A spokesperson for the Murray Bridge TAFE campus said it was too early to comment on how the funding would be spent.
