Police besiege ’Bridge house

29 Oct, 2009 07:20 AM
A SIEGE at a Hawke Road house in Murray Bridge yesterday was a false alarm.

Murray Bridge Police surrounded the house yesterday at about 9am to arrest a man for parole violations and other serious offences.

South Australia Police spokeswoman senior constable Rebecca Stokes said the man had a history of involvement with sieges and police had information he was inside the house with a woman and a child.

Heavily armed STAR Force officers also attended but left after several hours without finding the man.

Senior constable Stokes said it was unlikely the man had escaped and believed he may not have been in the house.
