MONARTO Zoo is now home to a large wooden shelter for visitors to enjoy thanks to the work of Timber Frames of Australia.
The structure was made as part of a one-week training workshop run by Timber Frames of Australia in conjunction with the Construction Industry Training Board.
Timber Frames of Australia general manager Peter Harwood said the week had been interesting and those invo-lved, including six train-ees, had worked well.
“As the week has progressed each participant has learnt a lot about the work involved in construction,” he said.
“It has been a great opportunity to promote the trade.”
Mr Harwood said the structure was constructed in a traditional English joinery manner and was a first for his company.
“These days we tend to construct more modern designs, so this was a good opportunity to use and test the skills required for such a design,” he said.
The shelter is located in the centre of a soon to-be-constructed native garden at the zoo, which is adjacent to the kiosk.
