TWO netball teams will be battling head-to-head tomorrow night, but surprisingly it won’t be on a netball court.
The Mannum and Mypolonga netball clubs will be playing a twenty/20 cricket match for an inaugural Pink Ribbon fundraising event.
Mypolonga Netball Club A grade captain Courtney Blacker said the idea started when the Mannum club wanted to organise a pre-season fitness event.
The club decided to make the event a competition and invited the Mypolonga club to join them for a cricket fundraiser, with proceeds going toward the National Breast Cancer Foundation.
Ms Blacker said the public is invited to go along for a great night, which also includes a walk-a-thon around the oval during the cricket match.
There will also be a barbecue and drinks after the game, with all proceeds going toward the foundation.
Ms Blacker said the first 40 walkers registered for the walk-a-thon would receive a pedometer.
She said someone, who currently remains anonymous, was making a large donation to the foundation on the night.
- Details: A gold coin entry donation will go toward the foundation. The event will be held tomorrow at 6.30pm at the Mannum oval, with participants encouraged to RSVP for catering purposes to secretary Kelly Kuhn on 0488 697 308 or secretary@mannumroos.org.au.
