A NEW coach has brought a new attitude to the Mannum Football Club.
President Jock Krause said it was time the club got serious about winning it’s first A grade premiership since 2003.
“We need to develop the right culture here,” he said.
“We don’t want to be branded the club that wins the reserves premiership every year.
“We need to get results in the A grade.”
New coach Dave Dolheguy agreed, hoping to steer the club higher than fifth position, where it finished last season.
“We are trying to build on last year,” he said.
“Apart from Justin Maloney’s retirement we haven’t lost any A grade players.
“We have recruited a couple players and we are hoping to improve on our position last year.”
The Roos are looking strong, with not many losses and the recruitment of some big-name players from other competitions, but Krause played down the big signings.
“Until they kick the ball you don’t know,” he said.
“A couple have came with pretty good CVs.
“There is definitely talent in the side.”
Dolheguy said the key to a successful 2009 campaign was for the club’s plethora of young talent to take the next step.
“We have got a young side and we want to build on that,” he said.
“We want to set up the future for the next few years.
“From the young fellas...Jarrad Woodward, the two Thiele boys and Sam Schlueter have been standouts on track so far.
“We will be a lot better if we can get them playing A grade all season.”
