January 18: Murray Bridge horse Bundle O'Gold took out the Geoffrey Bellmaine Handicap at the Caulfield racecourse in Melbourne, netting the horse a win of $36,400.
January 25: Murray Bridge sprintcar driver Ryan Jones won the South Australian 360 Sprintcar Title at Adelaide's Speedway City.
January 28: Cricketing prodigy Ben Dougall hit a blistering 155 in a State under 17 match against Tasmania.

February 12: The Karoonda and Districts Football Club held a crises meeting due to a lack of numbers for the upcoming football season.
February 19: Monarto cricketer Adam Eckermann made the BankSA Team of the Year after a fantastic all-round performance at the State country carnival.
February 22: 16-year-old Matt Thompson was named the Murray Valley Standard/Fischer Motors 2007 Sports Star of the Year after a phenomenal year on the football field. The Mypolonga Netball Club and the Jervois Football Club A grade side tied to win the 2007 Team of the Year award, after both winning their fourth successive premierships.
February 29: Murray Bridge Businesses won the 14th annual charity cricket match, defeating Murray Bridge doctors.
March 4: Dodgers Blue won the Lower Murray Baseball League grand final, defeating Dodgers Red 15-13, with an innings to spare. Jervois' Andrew White took out the Lower Murray Bowling Association champion of champions singles title.
March 7: Karoonda's Luke Hocking won the Murray Towns Cricket Association's Cricketer of the Year award. Tom Hines and John Linke won the State wakeboarding titles at White Sands.
March 11: Murray Bridge’s Ryan Jones won the Australian 360 Sprintcar Title at the Murray Bridge Speedway. The Murray Towns Cricket Association's hot weather policy meant Mannum and Imperials progressed straight through to the A grade grand final.
March 18: Mannum won their fourth A grade cricket premiership in a row. Mannum Green won the Lower Murray Tennis Association Friday night grand final and Tailem Bend won the Lower Murray Bowls division one grand final.
March 20: Murray Bridge rower Sam Redding won a gold and silver medal at the National Rowing Championships.
April 1: Former Murray Bridge trampolinist Ben Wilden won the prestigious Hyde Park Press Sports Award in the 2008 Channel Nine Young Achiever awards. Karoonda cricketer Casey Galbraith won the Sturt Womens Cricket Club B grade batting and bowling aggregate trophies.
April 4: Imperials coach Tony Fielke was appointed to coach the South Australian Country Football side. Former Ki Ki boy Martin Mattner played his 100th game of Australian Rules football after moving to the Sydney Swans at the start of the season.
April 11: River Murray footballer Michael O'Malley was named captain of the Sturt under 17s side.
April 18: Local swimmer Zeth Morgan took home a swag of awards at the Murray Bridge Amateur Swimming Club presentation night.
April 22: Murray Bridge bowler Nicole Bartlett won a gold medal at the State under 18 lawn bowls championship.
April 25: Murray Bridge’s James McRae was selected in the Australian men's Olympic rowing team. Tailem Bend A grade footballer Todd Downs played his 200th league game.
May 2: Veteran Jervois footballers Alan Rickaby and Tim Hoad played their 400th and 300th senior games respectively. Rodney 'Rocket' Maynard played his 200th senior game for the Lameroo Football Club.
May 9: River Murray footballers Matt Thompson and Corey Jones made the South Australian under 18 football side.
May 13: After winning the South Australian 360 Sprintcar Title in January, Murray Bridge driver Ryan Jones was crowned State champion in a different style of racing, winning the KT Twin Division South Australian Dirt Cart title.
May 16: ’Bridge greyhound trainer Shaun Mattcott had the most successful win of his career and won the prestigious group three $28,050 South Australian Breeder Plate Final at Angle Park.
May 27: Tailem Bend snooker ace Jake Persello won the under 18 State snooker title.
May 30: Rambler stalwart Kym McFee played his 300the senior game of RMFL football. Local shooter Trevor Deed won the Murray Bridge Open Rifle championship.
June 6: Young boxer John Clarke finished runner-up in the Boxing SA novice State title for his weight category, 70 to 75 kilograms.
June 10: The River Murray Football League lost to the Great Southern Football League by one point in their inter-association match. Yamaha's Jay Marmont won the 2008 Rockstar Engergy Drink Motocross Nationals in the Pro Opens class at the Murray Bridge Sporting Car and Motorcycle Club.
June 13: The River Murray Netball Association broke a 15-year drought and won the State Country Championships. Three River Murray netballers, Sharmon Banks, Tracey Loechel and Olivia Scholz, made the State Country Championship team.
June 17: Murraylands girls Kelly Altmann and Casey Gregory were selected to play in the Secondary School Sport of South Australia netball team.
June 20: The Murray Bridge Darts Club won the State Country Darts Championship for the fourth consecutive year.
June 24: The RMFL boycotted the South Australian Country Football Championships, along with the entire Southern Districts side.
June 27: Mannum's Leanne Quast won the Murray Bridge Golf Club's ladies championship and the Mannum Golf Club's ladies championship, making her the double champion for the second year running.
July 4: A crowd of more than 2500 flocked to Johnstone Park in Murray Bridge to watch South Australian National Football League side Sturt take on South Adelaide. Local umpire Harold McLaren umpired his 700th match.
July 8: Ramblers footballers Luke Button and Ryan Morris made the South Australian Country Football side.
July 18: Long time Karoonda and Districts Football Club member Bill Murdoch is named the South Australian Telstra Country Footy Legend for 2008.

August 12: Jervois superstar Trevor Rigney kicked his 100th A grade goal in the Bluds' RMFL match against Mannum. The Australian men's rowing quad skull crew, featuring Murray Bridge’s James McRae, set a new world record during their heat at the Beijing Olympics.
August 15: Imperials captain Matt Gogel becomes one of the youngest players in the RMFL to reach 150 senior games, at the age of 23.
August 19: Former Murray Bridge trampolinest Ben Wilden missed out on a berth in the men's trampoline final at the Beijing Olympics. Murray Bridge rower James McRae narrowly misses out on a medal after his team finished fourth in the men’s rowing quad scull A final at the Beijing Olympics.
August 22: Jervois' Damien Dugan and Ramblers' Ben Gogel won the RMFL Connelly and Bryan medals respectively.
August 29: Border Downs Tintinara's Josh Richardson won the 2008 Mallee Football League Mail Medal convincingly.
September 2: Promising Murray Bridge cricketer Ben Dougall made the Australian under 18 cricket squad. Imperials netballer Olivia Scholz won the RMNA A grade best and fairest award.

September 9: Mypolonga won their fifth RMNA A grade premiership in a row, defeating Imperials by 10 goals.
September 12: Murray Bridge North Schools teacher Katie Parker celebrated winning a silver medal with tandem cyclist partner Felicity Johnson at the Beijing Paralympics.
