MYPOLONGA’s Cassie Martin, pictured, is the River Murray Netball Association’s best and fairest player for 2009.
Martin won the award at the RMNA presentation night at the Imperials Football Club on Saturday.
Due to the high number of teams playing in the association it was decided to try a new format with the junior and senior presentations being held at different times on the same night.
This proved successful with the presentations and awards running smoothly and finishing well within the allotted times.
The junior presentation commenced at 6.30pm with president Denise Edwards welcoming those who attended.
The first award was the announcement of the winner of the RMNA logo competition, which was won by Emily Edwards, of Tailem Bend.
She won a iPod donated by Murray Computers.
Individual best and fairest and runners-up for each grade were announced as various life members presented the awards.
The country carnival representative sides were presented with a certificate of recognition of achievement.
The under 17 side was congratulated on their success in winning their division at the carnival this year.
Presentations were also made to Emily Edwards, Libby Frazer and Kelly Altmann for their achievement in representing the association at a higher level.
Guest speaker Jacqui Delaney gave a short speech on how she started her netball career.
The senior presentation night commenced with the announcement of the team of the year.
Certificates of achievement were presented to players who played 150, 200 and 250 games during the season.
After the senior grades received their best and fairest
and runner-up awards
Delaney gave another short speech.
The A grade medal count was presented in a powerpoint presentation with Martin taking out top honours.
Leanne Fetherstonhaugh, from Ramblers, was runner-up in the best and fairest.
