JERVOIS travelled to Mypolonga for the last game of the first round, playing on a wet court after much-needed rain earlier in the day.
The clash between the two A grade sides started with Mypolonga turning over the first centre pass and converting to score the first goal of the match.
Mypolonga goal shooter Meagan Gillespie was moving well and shooting accurately.
Jervois capitalised on Mypo’s mid court, forcing errors, converting many opportunities through Sally Llewellyn.
At the quarter time break Mypolonga led by four goals, 13-9.
Both teams were working hard in the goal circle and a very physical tussle evolved.
Mypolonga’s Cassie Martin defended well, turning over many balls from Jervois’ shooters.
Llewellyn, Jervois goal attack, shot accurately with Sheridan O’Brien, Mypolonga goal defence, making her work for every ball.
This was Mypo’s quarter, with Gillespie and Sharmon Banks shooting accurately to take the lead by 11 goals.
At half-time the scores were Jervois 19 to Mypo 30.
Jervois’ mid court turned over many of Mypo’s stray balls early in the third quarter, with Jervois goalers Cunningham and Llewellyn shooting well.
Mypo centre Courtney Blacker then steadied the mid court, using her drive and direction.
Jervois defenders Julia Llewellyn and Caitlin Liebich worked hard, with Mypo’s goalers shooting accurately and Gillespie rebounding well.
This was an even quarter, with scores going into the final quarter, Mypolonga 43 to Jervois 31.
Mypo made numerous changes, bringing Cassie Martin into goal shooter and creating more movement and accuracy with Gillespie.
Banks moved into wing attack, feeding well into the circle, ably assisted by Cass Rathjen in centre.
Jervois brought on Crystal Crivellaro into wing defence.
Injury time was called late in the quarter for Martin, who was replaced by Karly Dabinett with more positional changes.
Final scores were Mypolonga 56, Jervois 42 goals.

B grade
The clouds had parted as the game got underway with Jervois settling early and scoring the first goal.
Mypo stayed with Jervois and managed a two-goal lead at quarter time.
Jervois’ defenders made the Mypolonga goalers work hard for possession, with Coralie Batchelor managing some great intercepts.
The third quarter began with a heavy downpour, which made all players tentative to go hard for the ball.
Lyndal Densley and Mel Brown moved well and shot consistently to be 13 goals up at three quarter time.
Jervois continued their run in the last quarter to be ahead by 16 at the final whistle, 34 to 50.

C grade
Wet and windy weather made for a scrappy game.
Jervois dominated most of the first quarter, with Mypo trying their best in the slippery conditions.
In the second quarter Jervois continued to outscore Mypo, with more direct play into goals.
Positional changes at half-time saw Mypo improve, with some great plays down court.
Jervois was however the more settled side on the day and won comfortably, 59 to 26.

17 and under
In tough conditions, both teams were able to play a steady game down the court.
Mypolonga was able to capitalise on turnovers, which gave them a five-goal lead at half-time.
Changes were made in both teams at the half-time break, with Eloise Chudy on for Jervois and Elise Altmann and Zoe Dabinett for Mypo.
This created tight defence and accurate shooting at each end, allowing Mypo to lead by nine at the next break.
In the fourth quarter, Jervois played a hard and solid game but was unable to cut off Mypo’s flow down the court.
All girls on court put on an excellent performance considering the cold, wet and windy weather, with final scores Mypolonga 39, Jervois 25.

15 and under division one
Conditions were cool and wet making the court slippery on occasions.
The pace of the game was slower than the standard usually displayed.
The first quarter was even, however Mypo dominated the second quarter with Jervois scoring only two goals.
The third quarter was again a tight battle, with Mypo pulling away in the last quarter to win 41 to 23.

15 and under division two
This was a great game and Jervois played hard in rainy conditions.
However, Mypo worked consistently over the four quarters for the win.
Every player played to their best and it was a good game to watch.

13 and under division two
The previously unbeaten Mypolonga was eventually overrun by a physically superior Jervois team, in an excellent contest played in atrocious conditions.
Although heavy rain fell throughout the game, both beams were able to play high pressure entertaining netball, befitting a top of the table clash.
The first half was a tight affair, with Kayla Schultz a focal point for Jervois and her opponent Stephanie Hagger playing a similar role for Mypo.
Zoe Batchelor (Jervois) and Crystal Kluske (Mypo) both provided drive for their respective teams from the mid court.
At half-time Jervois led 14-12.
Both coaches made numerous changes at the break, with Jervois bringing on star players Jacinta Duigan to goal defence and Bianca Kahl to goal attack.
The Tigers countered by releasing their star player Stacey Hein into the centre.
All three changes had an immediate effect as the tempo increased even more.
Jervois applied pressure all over the court.
Caitlin Rhue at goal keeper forced the Mypo goalers to shoot from too far out.
At three quarter time Jervois had stretched their lead to five goals.
Jervois moved Duigan to centre to oppose Hein and this clash alone was worth the admission fee as these two outstanding athletes went at it for all of the final term.
Rachel Anderson had quietened the dangerous Schultz, however Kahl had taken control at goal attack using her superior height to dominate the goal circle.
At the other end Rhue’s height was decisive for Jervois.
The Bluds were able to take control in the final few minutes to run away with the game 31-17.
Jervois was best served by Rhue in defence and Duigan and Kahl after half-time.
Mypo’s better players were Hein, when released in the second half, Hagger’s first half was good and Anderson played solidly in defence.

11 and under
The game started in wet conditions with good defence from both teams.
Goalers Tori O’Loughlin and Emma Bratkovic, for Mypo, and Spencer Hameister and Sarah Gazzola, for Jervois, were having lots of attempts for goal with Mypo finally scoring the first goal for the game.
Jervois came back to get the next three goals.
At quarter time the score was Jervois 3, Mypo 1.
More accurate passing by Jervois saw their lead stretch out further in the second quarter.
At half-time the scores were Jervois 6 to Mypo 2.
Both teams made changes in the third quarter, with Mypo working hard to catch up but finding it difficult to score goals because of tight defence from Emily Gommers and Sarah Chudy from Jervois.
At three quarter time the scores were Jervois 9 to Mypo 2.
Mypo started the last quarter scoring a very quick goal.
Jervois continued to pass well down the court and into their goalers to increase their lead.
Final scores were Mypolonga 5, Jervois 13.

Minis
Wet conditions made the court and ball slippery, but with accurate passing and chasing, particularly by Georgia Payne, Mypo was able to quickly move the ball down to their goal circle.
A lovely shot from Lexie O’Loughlin scored them the first goal.
This was followed with another from Chloe Elliott who rebounded well under the ring.
Jervois was able to even the score through very good passing from Tia-Jae Conway-Jaensch and Alana Kahl.
Both teams scored very quickly in the beginning of the quarter.
Chelsea Hagger and Hannah Brown were making a lot of effective leads through mid-court and having a good contest with their opponents Olivia Hand and Gracie Miles.
A very heavy shower of rain slowed the game a little but Jervois goal attack Brittany Liebich chased the ball well and shot accurately.
Jade Collins, at goal defence for Jervois, defended and intercepted well, as did Holly Wachtel and Aimee Kelly for Mypo.
This made for an exciting even game with both teams getting many opportunities to shoot for goal.
This continued in the final quarter.
Hannah Elliott played well in the centre court for Mypo, leading well.
The game ended in a draw, seven goals each, with all girls playing a great game.

Ramblers cruise to easy 15-goal win
BOTH Ramblers and Tailem Bend were keen to get a win on the board so were hard at it from the start of their A grade match at LeMessurier Oval on Saturday.
Rambler goal attack Tania McFee was in fine form shooting accurately, as was Tailem Bend’s goaler Melissa Edwards.
Ramblers took a slight lead half way through the first quarter, but Tailem Bend fought back to be only one goal down at the first break.
The second quarter was fairly even with neither team making the most of their opportunities.
Geemas Green, at goal keeper for Tailem Bend, worked hard in defence, getting her hand on many balls and intercepting and rebounding strongly to drive her team back into attack.
Samantha Wehrman created strong leads through the mid court and also picked up many interceptions for her Rambler attackers.
Ramblers made changes at half time, allowing them to play a more settled quarter.
Leanne Bedding and Kat Deans applied extra pressure in defence for Ramblers, making the Tailem Bend goalers work extremely hard for every pass.
Bedding’s strong rebounds in defence and the combination of McFee and Knott in goals allowed Ramblers to take a comfortable lead at the third quarter break.
Ramblers continued to lift in the last quarter with constant pressure all over the court.
Tailem Bend continued to fight but were unable to combat Ramblers’ pressure and drive, with final scores Ramblers 53, Tailem Bend 38.

A reserves
This game went goal for goal in the first quarter, with each team battling for form and a win on the board.
The combination of Laura Wilson and Charise Bristow worked well, as did Tailem Bend’s goalers.
Positional changes for Ramblers saw Suzy Howell take the court at goal defence, which added some strong rebounding height in defence when the odd shot by Tailem Bend’s goalers Denise Edwards and Justine Tomkinson missed.
However, Ramblers saw more of the play and the game began to slowly turn their way.
With a six-goal advantage, Ramblers took to the court in the final term with confidence but Tailem Bend did not give in.
They mounted a last ditch effort but the Ramblers mid court of Leanne Hurford, Kate Fielden and Katey Wehrman turned the ball over many times to allow the Rambler goalers the opportunity to protect the six-goal lead created by their side for a much needed first win for the season, 50 to 44.

B grade
Both Ramblers and Tailem Bend hit the court with one win each and both sides were desperate for their second win.
This was evident by the intensity of the players for the whole four quarters.
Ramblers were up by two goals at the first break, with great defence by Ramblers.
The mid court for each team gave their goalers many opportunities to score in the second quarter with the lead extended by Ramblers 18-12 at the long break.
At half time both teams brought junior players on in goals who took up the challenge presented to them with strong hands and accurate shooting.
The last half saw both teams give that bit extra all over the court but Ramblers’ defence was just too strong, working extremely well as a team backing each other up.
Tailem Bend fought hard to the end but Ramblers enjoyed an 11-goal win at the final whistle, 39-28.

C grade
Tailem Bend began the game with confidence and moved the ball well down the court into their gaolers, who shot accurately.
Ramblers had some good passages of play but lacked consistency and accuracy in goals.
The game was hard-fought and the score certainly did not reflect the effort put in, especially by the Rambler players.
To Tailem Bend’s credit they did run out easy winners by 24 goals in a great team effort.
Final scores were Tailem bend 48, Ramblers 24.

17 and under
This game was the battle for second spot and started evenly with both teams shooting 100 per cent for the majority of the quarter.
Tailem Bend’s one-goal lead was being challenged by Ramblers when the rain started to fall mid way through the second quarter.
But Tailem’s mid court of Bernie Piggott and Emily Edwards took control and settled their side in wet weather conditions and helped the team to an 8-goal lead at half time.
Ramblers responded by outscoring Tailem Bend in the third quarter and continued to pressure Tailem in the fourth quarter to get within four goals.
However the Rambler players made simple errors which saw Tailem Bend capitalise and extend their lead late in the quarter to post a strong 10-goal win, 46 to 36.

15 and under division one
Both sides started strongly, but by the first quarter break Ramblers had a handy 24 goals to 7 lead and showed signs of being in total control of the game even at this early stage.
Mid court pressure by Ramblers resulted in many turnovers, which were converted with strong shooting.
Tailem showed passenges of good play, however Ramblers outscored and outplayed their opposition.
Changes were made by Ramblers, which continued to pressure the Tailem Bend attack, as they struggled to move the ball freely down the court.
Ramblers ran out comfortable winners 78-22.

13 and under division one
A shower of rain made conditions difficult in the first quarter for both sides, which slowed the pace of the game.
Ramblers’ goalers outsmarted the Tailem defence, as did the Rambler mid court, but Elisha Boyle-Richards, at wing defence for Tailem Bend, worked hard and took many intercepts for her team.
The consistency of the Rambler team set up a five-goal lead at quarter time.
The full court pressure by Ramblers was a highlight and was rewarded with many held ball calls.
It became physical in the Tailem goal circle with great match-ups between the players, however the Rambler defenders won out.
At half time both teams made changes.
Rambler goal shooter Dana McDonald had good vision into the speedy goal attack Jasmine Trevorrow, resulting in Ramblers opening up a 27-3 lead at three quarter time.
In the last quarter Isabella Daysh took some good intercepts for Tailem Bend at goal keeper but the final score was in favour of Ramblers, 40-4.

11 and under
With both teams playing without a loss, the match had an exciting start.
The game saw a great tussle between Ramblers’ Jacqui Altmann and Tailem’s Ashlee Zadow, but Ramblers took the early lead at the first quarter break 7-3.
Kenisha Seidel and Alex Applebee had excellent drive through the mid court for their respective teams, with Kedeisha Katrinyeri and Sara Mckerlie finishing off well in goals for Ramblers to extend their team’s lead 17-4.
Tailem Bend fought hard in the third quarter but Ramblers maintained their lead.
In the last quarter Tailem Bend’s mid court picked up and gave their side the opportunity for a quick couple of goals, but Ramblers were too strong, finishing off the game for an strong win 33-7.

Minis
This game was played in cold and wet conditions but both teams still worked hard.
Rambler defenders Ashley Dougall and Lucinda Howell and Tailem Bend’s Taylah Edwards and Madeline kept both teams scoreless at the first break.
Both teams made changes, with Tailem Bend settling in quicker and playing stronger netball to score five goals, as opposed to Ramblers’ single goal.
The second half saw the now very wet girls still work hard all over the court.
Ramblers shooters Lucinda Howell and Helene Altmann added a further seven goals.
However Tailem Bend scored three goals through Molly Maddaford and Kirsty Piggot to give them a two-goal win, 8-10.

Blues shut down Meningie despite Swan’s accuracy
Meningie had a late change prior to the A grade netball game against Imperials on Saturday, with Tracey Mitchell not playing and Megan Smart going in as goal shooter.
Penny Fielke in centre for Imperials was matched up against Krystle Gibbs, with both giving their sides plenty of drive.
Meningie was even with Imperials half way through the quarter until Imperials applied good defensive pressure though Sharon Taylor and Dallas Huxtable to be winning at quarter-time 18 to 11.
Olivia Scholz and Jenna Daniels were shooting well for Imperials in trying conditions for goalers.
Wonita Gibbs for Meningie was working hard to shut down Imperials’ Carrie Daniels, who was driving hard down the court.
At half-time Imperials lead 34 to 23.
Meningie’s key defenders in Beth Marsson and Lauren Thorpe started the third quarter well, playing tight defence and pouncing on any loose balls.
The third quarter became a free flowing quarter with both sides socring well.
Fielke, now playing at goal keeper, was working hard against Meningie’s Megan Smart who was shooting well.
At three-quarter time Imperials led 54 to 38.
Meningie made some changes in the last quarter to run the game out.
Josie Saddlier moved from wing attack to wing defence and had played a solid game, having a good tussal with Imperials’ Daniels.
Meningie’s Jane Swan had played a great game at goal attack and had a perfect day, netting 30 goals from as many shots.
Imperials ran out winners 70 to 51.

A reserves
This was a strong game by both teams, with some aggressive play throughout the game.
Imperials set the pace in the first quarter and Meningie took a bit of time to settle as Imperials headed into the first break up by five goals.
The second quarter saw Meningie settle better, as the ball went end for end and Meningie outscored Imperials 10 goals to seven to close the gap to three goals at the half-time break.
Meningie struggled in the second half of the game, missing both of their team goalers, but fill-in Katrina Hood kept the pace with some fine accuracy.
However, this was not quite enough as Imperials held their focus and stretched their lead in the end for a good finish, 44 to 33.

B grade
In extremely cold, wet and windy conditions at Meningie, Imperials won the toss and took the first centre pass.
The first quarter went goal for goal, with Imperials being up by two at the quarter break.
Meningie made changes at that stage, with Val Gollan (GA) replaced by Dana Wilson.
The teams settled quickly, but some timely intercepts and tight defence by Holly Frazer (GD) and Jodie Bain (GK), for Imperials, resulted in turnovers for their team.
Imperials went into the half-time break with a lead of four goals.
In the third quarter, Meningie’s defenders Helen Poulish (GD), Narelle Hincks (GK) and Carly Miller (WD) put the pressure on and made many turnovers.
The mid court players for both teams were creating plenty of drive and options for their respective sides.
The last quarter was evenly contested with many great match-ups down the court.
Imperials were able to hold on, to win by seven goals on the day, 33 to 26.

C grade
Imperials had the first centre pass in wet, windy conditions with wing attack Sally McLaren leading well and strong passes into the goalees.
Jade Greenwood (GK) and Jessie Aston (GD) defended well for Meningie and mase many intercepts.
Both the teams were evenly matched and at half-time Meningie was leading by two goals.
Changes were made to both teams, with Dana Wilson (GA) for Meningie combining well with Lia Mead (GS) and Brianna Schenscher (GS) for Imperials and Chloe Lipp (GA) working well in goals.
The scores at three quarter time were Meningie 29 to Imperials 27.
The last quarter was tightly contested with many turnovers for both teams, but Meningie stood up in defence and fought hard to win by three goals, 38 to 35.
All girls played well.

17 and under
This was a good game by both teams, but Imperials were a bit too strong and ran away easy winners.
The Meningie girls worked hard all game and kept Imperials within reach of 12 goals at the most each quarter, until the last where Imperials were too strong.
The Imperials attack was working the ball into the goalers well and the shooters were moving well in the ring with great accuracy.
The Meningie girls worked well across the court showing good skills, but it was Imperials’ day with a well-deserved win, 54 to 32.

15 and under division one
Imperials started strongly making many intercepts taking them to an 11-goal lead at the first break.
Meningie settled in the second quarter with some great passages of play.
Imperials goalers Olivia McLoughlin and Carla Samblich were working well but the defence for Meningie, Stephanie Sanders, Hannah Pittendreigh and Jackie Gibbs, made it hard for them to convert.
Imperials had an outstanding third quarter, extending their lead.
The final quarter saw a lot more contesting of the ball by Meningie, but Imperials were too strong.
The final scores were Imperials 45, Meningie 16.

15 and under division two
This was a close game with Imperials up by two at the end of the first quarter.
Meningie’s Mel Vandenbrink and Brittany Hancock defended well against Tamara White and Kaitlin O’Sullivan in goals, but the goalers’ accuracy was great even in the bad conditions.
Imperials’ Kaitelyn Freeman and Michelle Martin had a tough job against goalers Sarafina Rankine and Haley Shaw, but were able to rebound loose balls.
Chloe Padman played an outstanding game at centre, making Thais Edmond’s job difficult, but she stood up to her well.
Meningie improved each quarter, giving them a lead in the end and to finish up with a win, 31 to 19.

13 and under division one
The first quarter saw both teams come out hard for the ball, with each centre pass converting to a goal.
Chelsea Hancock (WD) and Amber Gibbs were defending well and picking up any loose balls.
Imperial’s Courtney Short (GS) and Ashley Cox (GA) combined well and finished off with accurate shooting.
Meningie started to pick up the speed attacking and moving well right down the court.
Marni Hood (GA) moved well, making space and combining in the goal circle with Brigitte Botha (GS).
The Imperials defence, Nikki Snell (GD) and Amy Martin (GK) tightened up in the third quarter, making the Meningie goalers work hard for every goal.
Kelsey Gepp in centre was driving down the court well.
The fourth quarter saw good plays from both Imperials and Meningie.
Meningie’s Mikayla Smart defended strongly throughout the game.
In the end Meningie was too strong and won 39-24.

The first quarter saw an evenly-contested game with only one goal being scored.
Imperials’ Jasmin Story and Meningie’s Erin Pittendreigh had a great tussle all game.
Kaneta Marin kept tight defensive pressure on Imperials’ Chantelle Manjean and Kayle McDiarmid in goals.
Marni Hood came on in the third quarter as goal attack, enabling Meningie to improve their score.
This was a great game by both teams, with Imperials winning 20 to 11.

11 and under
Both imperials and Meningie began the game really well, with an even first quarter.
Meningie took the pass through Maddi O’Connell (C) with good play into goals and excellent shooting from Abbey Hood (GA) and Alysha Eckert (GS).
Imperials worked hard to keep possession, with Caitlin Hattam (GS) and Serena Lienert (GA) shooting well.
Meningie worked very well together with good teamwork resulting in a win.
Well done to both teams for a game played with wonderful sportsmanship.
Final scores were Meningie 27, Imperials 8.

Both teams played really well with Katie Aspel leading very well for Meningie.
Courtney Rigney was shooting with great accuracy.
For Imperials, Savannah Story worked really hard in defence all game and Emily DeMichele tried really hard.
This was a good game, but Meningie was too strong on the day, defeating Imperials 9-0.
