Ramblers V Jervois
IN perfect netball conditions, and Ramblers' last home game for the season, Ramblers took on a determined Jervois in River Murray A grade netball on Saturday.
Ramblers had to change their normal line-up due to players being unavailable.
The game started with Jervois scoring the first few goals and immediately applying pressure to Ramblers.
Ramblers then steadied with a goal and started to work their way into the game.
Candice Hartman, starting at wing attack for Ramblers, started well, presenting well for centre passes and feeding the ball into her goalies well.
The game was evenly contested for the first three quarters with neither side able to take full control of the game.
The last quarter saw Jervois' work rate lift and they applied lots of defensive pressure on Ramblers, which caused turnovers.
Jervois were able to capitalise on these turnovers with some great shooting from the Jervois goalies.
This then put Jervois out to a four-goal lead with only minutes to go.
Rambler goal attack Nikki Wehrman sustained an injury in the final minutes of the quarter and had to go off.
This forced Ramblers to make positional changes, but worked in favour for their side.
Ramblers then gained some momentum and scored four quick goals, through fantastic movement and athleticism by Raelee Vick at goal shooter and supported by Candice Hartman, who moved to goal attack, while interchange player Tamara Marchetti came on at wing attack.
The scores were then level and both teams scored from centre passes.
Ramblers defenders Kelly Barton-Ancliffe and Mel Wehrman in the goal circle were working tirelessly to gain an intercept, or force a turnover, but Jervois held on to score.
Rachel Liebelt at wing defence and Sarah Price at centre for Ramblers were having a great tussle in the mid-court with their Jervois opponents but neither side could force a turnover.
In the end, with 24 seconds to go, Jervois scored a goal to level the scores and despite Ramblers' efforts to get the ball down to the centre as quickly as possible, they were not able to score another goal to steal the game.
Best players - Ramblers: Raelee Vick, Candice Hartman and Kelly Barton-Ancliff. Jervois - Sally Llewelyn and Lyndal Obst.
Imperials V Meningie
THE first quarter of the A grade River Murray Netball Association match between Meningie and Imperials on Saturday started with both teams making a few silly mistakes.
Once both teams settled, the match turned into a good standard of netball.
Imperials' Hannah Dreckow combined well with goal attack Casey Gregory in goals as Imperials led 14 to 11 at quarter time.
In the second quarter Imps increased its pressure on Meningie.
Meningie was slightly unsettled after Carly Vivian was a late withdrawal before the game with an ankle injury and 17 and under player Lisa Thorpe stepped up.
Imperials' goal keeper Kylie Burns had a great battle with Meningie goal shooter Tracey Mitchell and at half time Imps led 28 to 19.
Meningie came out playing better netball in the third quarter with Meningie's Wonita Gibbs making some great intercepts and Imperials' Katrina Miegel playing a great game in the mid court.
At three quarter time Imps led 44 to 33.
Krystle Gibbs played a good game at centre for Meningie, setting up Meningie's goalers for shots at goal on many occasions.
Imperials' Carrie Daniels played a tight defensive game making some timely intercepts as Imps ran out winners 59 goals to Meningie's 44.

Tailem Bend V Mannum
TAILEM Bend took the game right up to Mannum on Saturday in their River Murray Netball Association A grade clash and for three quarters no more than five goals separated the two sides.
Mannum, playing on their home courts, opened strongly in the first quarter, moving the ball quickly and accurately into their goal circle.
Early missed goals by Tailem allowed Mannum to take a five-goal lead at the first break.
Tailem goalers Denise Edwards and Sarah Durdin started to find range and helped their team pick up their work rate and intensity.
They were having a great tussle with Kellie Schmidt and Heather Rosenzweig in the goal ring.
Mannum were struggling with the gusty conditions, which allowed Tailem, who was rebounding strongly, to send the ball back to their attacking end and decrease the margin to three goals at the main break.
Tailem came out firing in third quarter and closed the gap, levelling the scores halfway through the quarter. The scores went goal for goal until the final break.
Mannum settled and played great netball in the last quarter.
