BRIDGE Crows continued their unbeaten run on Saturday against a slightly undermanned Hot Shots in the Murray Bridge Lawn Tennis doubles competition.
At the start of play Hot Shots were one woman short so 10-year-old Sarah Crane stepped into the vacant third lady position to play her first match at senior level.
After a nervous start with her partner Rachel Law she began to play some stronger shots, however, the Hot Shots combination was no match for Crows Pat Schirmer and Julie Webb.
In the mixed doubles match Crane was paired with Josh Law who served very well to keep the combination in the match, however, the Crows combination of Russell Kickbush and Julie Webb were able to capture several of the deuce games to run out 9-4 winners.
The closest match of the challenge was the men's doubles match between Hot Shots Barry Griffiths and Law and Crows players Bob Hancock and Kickbush.
This match was played game for game with many long rallies and all players having their share of winning shots.
With games generally going for serve the Crows combination broke to lead 7-6.
This stung Griffiths and Law into action and they won the next three games of this long tussle to claim a 9-7 win for Hot Shots.
The Crows, however, convincingly won the encounter seven sets, 75 games to two sets, 44 games.
The other match between Schulz's Heroes and Community Club looked to be a much closer contest with a tie at three sets all after the completion of two rotations.

The Heroes captured the final three sets to win six sets, 68 games to three sets, 56 games.
The top men’s double between Jack Reddin and Ray Rossiter for the Club and Charlie Moll and Rod Williams for Heroes was a strong tussle and among the closest of the day, with very few service breaks and some long rallies.
All players hit their fair share of winners with Rossiter playing a great game at net as the Club duo took the set 9-7.
In the second men’s double Rossiter teamed up with Duncan Reid and they forged their way to a 5-2 lead over Williams and Eben Crossley, however the latter duo then hit their straps to turn the set around and win 9-7.
The top ladies double between the Club’s Lyn Bald and Joy Morris and Heroes’ Heather Hindle and Michelle Matjanow started evenly but at three games all Bald and Morris stepped up the pace and with some cunning shots took the set 9-3.
The mixed double between Rossiter and Morris for Club and Williams and Matjanow for Heroes was a hard fought encounter with several breaks of serve and some great rallies with the Heroes pairing finally taking the match 9-7.
Jack Reddin playing for Community Club was named player of the day.
