More than 60 sausage dogs entered the races, with Hector, owned by David Shovelton and Elena Jacovides, of Ascot Vale, being crowned top dog.

Mr Shovelton said Hector had a natural talent for sprinting and he didn’t need to train the Dachshund for the race.

A WHOLE LOT OF FUN: Jacquie Angelino with Frank, from Portland, Madisen Cook with Jose, from Portland and Brodie Cumming with Vinnie, from Warrnambool.
