This was the first game of the season for Murray Bridge Maroon.

Their first game was rained out, they then had a bye for their second game.

Maroon just came in with a win over Mannum Gold with a score of 63 to 57.

Jenny Schiller’s Murray Bridge Maroon team of Denise Menzies, Fay Rolton and Jill Woolford didn't have a good start against the Mannum Gold side consisting of Marlene Davies, Cynthia Harbour, Debbie Peach and Beryl Brandle.

Mannum won the first three ends with a score of four, then Maroon scored the next two ends which made for an even game.

It was then a game of win one, lose one until the break on the 11th end when the score was 10 to 13.

Maroon kept Gold’s score to mainly ones for the remainder of the game, the final score was 18 to 13.

It was not a lucky day for Jan Kennedy's team of Augusta Pergallini, Helen Oats and Joan Cassidy.

Mannum won the first three ends with a score of four, then Maroon scored the next two ends which made for an even game.

They played a team consisting of Gaynor Pitcher, Leanne Dicker, Kaye Hall and Helen Turner.

Mannum Gold won the first three ends which gave them a good lead of six.

Reading the card, Murray Bridge Maroon kept Gold’s to a score of two for nine ends and a one for three ends.

Overall it was quite a good game with Maroon being a little out of luck until the last three ends, when they scored 10 with a seven on the last end.

The final score was 15 to 25.

Kay Simes' Murray Bridge Maroon team of Janine Logan, Barb Herbert and Faye Campbell had a good win against the Mannum Gold team of Kay Winderbank, Heather Sexton, Pam Eichler and Julie Helps.

Of the 21 ends played, Maroon won 13 to Gold's eight.

Overall, it was a very good game even though the score tells a different story.

Murray Bridge Maroon had scoring end of one five and two fours which kept Maroon in front all game.

Maroon were lucky as there was some very good, close ends played.

The score could have gone either way, when Maroon had four or five and Gold came in and cut it back to a two.

The final score was 30 to 12, Maroon’s way.
