On January 21, Anglican Bishop John Ford oversaw the ordination of Daniel Irvine to the priesthood in a service held in St John the Baptist’s Cathedral in Murray Bridge.

More than 100 people attended, with some travelling from as far as New South Wales.

The service was followed by lunch and fellowship at the Murray Bridge United soccer club, where Father Daniel has been a member for most of his life.

He will conduct his priestly duties in a self-supporting manner as a teacher at the Murray Bridge High School.

It was one of two ordinations the Anglican Parish of the Murraylands has celebrated over the past few weeks, alongside Ian Jansse’s on February 4.

Both men have been active members of the church for many years, and were part of a group that started a formation and training program leading to ordination in 2015.
