Murray Bridge Maroon v Murray Bridge Royal

The Thursday Pennants preliminary final was played between Murray Bridge Maroon and Murray Bridge Royal.

It was a good close game with six shots the difference with an overall score of 64-48, Murray Bridge Maroon’s way.

The grand final will be played at Mannum on Thursday March 23 between Jervois and Murray Bridge Maroon.

Maroon’s skipper Jill Woolford won the game by two shots against Royal’s skipper Kristeena Kirchner.

This game was close the entire time.

Maroon won the first, third and fifth ends, the score was 5-3 on the fifth end.

Royal caught up by scoring a four on the ninth end.

It was nine-all at the break on the 11th end.

It was Maroon, 13 to Royal, 14 on the 19th end and the game could have gone either way at this stage.

Maroon then scored a four on the 20th end which put them in front with the final score, 17-15.

Skipper Jenny Schiller played against skipper Jan Kennedy, this was a close game for ends won, Maroon won 11 ends to Royal’s 10.

Royal won the first end with Maroon winning the next then Royal the next three which put them in front.

Maroon had two good scoring ends with a five on the seventh and a four on the 11th which put the score at 14-9.

Maroon stayed in front for the remainder of the game with a final score of 24-16.

Skipper Kay Simes team scored the first two ends against skipper Joan Jackson, Royal scored the next two ends which put the score to three-all.

Maroon won the next three ends with a five on the seventh end.

At the lunch break, it was Maroon, 16 to Royal, seven, then each team won five ends each to the end with Royal scoring a four on the 16th end which lessened the gap to 19-13.

Overall Maroon won 12 ends to Royals nine with a final score of 23-17.

Jervois and Murray Bridge Maroon will face off in the grand final at Mannum this Thursday, March 23.
