The Peake Community Centre and the Sherlock Community Centre will both benefit from shares in the Peake Special Reserve fund.
The Coorong District Council moved to allocate $9,700 allocated to Sherlock and $7,300 to Peake.
Mayor Neville Jaensch said he was pleased to see that the Sherlock and Peake Community Centres would both benefit from the funding.
“Council determined the funds be used for capital projects, with priority for projects with joint funding, and both community centres fit the criteria,” he said.
“The Sherlock Community Centre comprises a group of community minded people who provide a centre point for the community through the upkeep of the Sherlock Hall and tennis courts.”
Mr Jaensch said the Peake Community Centre planned to make improvements at Polly’s Well rest stop.
“This rest stop is used daily by passing travellers and frequently overnight by RVs and caravans. It is also a school bus stop and semi-trailer sleepover from time to time.”
