One of Murray Bridge’s newest bakeries is celebrating its first birthday this month, and has delicious specials that are sure to get your mouth watering.
Pies 4 U, located on Bridge Street, was opened by Malcolm and Gloria Butler last year after the couple outgrew their home operation.
“When we first started it was just a wholesale business – a mini bakery set up in the back room of our house,” Mrs Butler said.
“Then the chance came up to buy this (premises) about a year ago and we jumped on it.

“Malcolm, who started out as an apprentice baker at 15, has always wanted to own a bakery. He’s always been a baker and we are now living the dream of owning our own baker shop.”
Pies 4 U bake pastries and sweets on site daily, including pies, pasties, sausage rolls, savoury slices, chocolate doughnuts, custard tarts, scones, lamingtons, and vanilla slices, just to name a few. Their signature dish, and one you must try, is a buffalo and red wine meat pie.
The bakery also serves a range of tea, coffee, juice and soft drinks.
“We do wholesale orders as well as front of shop orders and can cater for small parties,” Mrs Butler said.
“We try and source local ingredients and goods where possible and things here are made the old fashioned way.”
Customer service is a top priority for the Butlers, who pride themselves on offering “service with a smile”.
