Mannum Lions Club celebrated the 40th anniversary of its charter in May.
Past projects have included the construction of barbecue shelters at each end of Mary Ann Reserve on Mannum’s riverfront; the construction of a boardwalk and viewing area in Gass Reserve and Bird Sanctuary; funding participants in Operation Flinders and Scout Jamborees; funding sheltered walkways for the helipad at the Mannum Hospital; constructing a shelter at Mannum Skate Park; and building, and later expanding, the club’s den.

On-going activities include supporting the annual Christmas Parade, Hot Rod Show, Truck and Ute Show and Agricultural Show in Mannum; organisation and serving of the annual Australia Day community breakfast on Mary Ann Reserve, together with the Australia Day Awards and Lions Youth Achievement Awards; the recycling of beverage containers collected from bins that are placed in Mannum’s main street and in reserves and from houseboats; recycling donated books, household items and gardening and sports equipment through regular shed sales; and undertaking grounds maintenance services for South Australian police, SA Ambulance, and Aminya Aged Care.
