A pilot program aiming to improve farm gate returns for pork producers was launched in Mannum on Friday.
Rural Business Support’s Pork Farm Business Strategic Review program aims to work with producers to identify and adopt business and production practises to improve profitability and productivity by developing a strategic action plan.
Workshops, an on-farm follow-up and tailor-made action plan for businesses are part of the program.
The program has been developed on the back of the highly successful Dairy Farm Business Strategic Review, which has run for the past two years and has assisted more than 50 dairy family businesses.
RBS Business Development Manager Nigel Robinson said it was a free program to help pork farmers improve returns at the farm gate.
“It’s an exciting new program which will provide on farm support to help pork family businesses to identify and adopt proven practices in business and production to improve profitability and productivity,” he said.
“Pork families who participate in the program will attend a strategic workshop followed by three on-farm visits by a farm business specialist.”
