Goofy Murray Bridge golfers to fund raise

Next Friday, a four-person team ambrose competition will be played at the Murray Bridge Golf Course to raise funds for a worthy local cause.

The 18-hole Golfing for a Cause event  sponsors Community Living Australia Foundation which helps support people who are living with disabilities in the Murraylands.

This year is the CLA Foundation’s sixth annual charity golf day which contributes to the provision of four grants to help locals living with disabilities.

There are two different types of grants which are funded by the day – the first is a $1500 program to help a person living with a disability start their own small business.

The second is three $500 grants which will help those in need with the costs of post-secondary school education.

CLA Foundation chairman Des Warner said the barriers people living with disability faced in regional communities so they could live full and rewarding lives was well documented.

“The CLA Foundation aims to break down some of these barriers and to support some of the local people living with disability in Murray Bridge,” Mr Warner said.

“It is our intention that these grants will enable some of the people living with disability in our community who may not have otherwise had the chance, to pursue opportunities for further education past secondary school and to follow their passions and skills in opening their own small businesses.”

To help the cause the Foundation is seeking more businesses and teams to provide sponsorship or donations.

Mr Warner said teams could register to take part in the fun golf day.

It offers people a great opportunity to promote their business, to network, or to simply have a hit of golf for a good cause,” he said.

“The event is open to all members of the public and we encourage anyone if they are interested in taking part or in sponsoring or donating some items to the event to visit the website www.claust.com.au/golfday or to call 8536 5888 for more information or to register.”
