We want to celebrate all things coffee throughout the month of October, with everything kicking off on ‘International Coffee Day - Tiffany Bennett

There aren’t too many drinks that are as revered and admired around the world by its drinkers as coffee.

These small, bitter brown beans have come to hold a very special place in the hearts of many in modern western society.

With International Coffee Day right around the corner, Victor Harbor has decided it is a great time to celebrate this beloved drink, and all those in the town who make it so perfectly.

To do this, the City of Victor Harbor is set to old the first ever Best Mainstreet Coffee competition.

This event will be running throughout October, with voting from the public open all month long. The end result will of  course be to see who really does make the best coffee in Main Street (a topic that has been hotly contested for quite a while).

“We want to celebrate all things coffee throughout the month of October, with everything kicking off on International Coffee Day on Sunday October 1,” organiser Tiffany Bennett said.

“We have some wonderful baristas and cafes here, and it’s time to recognise them.”

Entrants in the first ever Best Mainstreet Coffee competition are:

  • Bon Appetit Café
  • Belicious
  • Café Bavaria
  • Delicia Acai + Protein Bar
  • Nino’s
  • Ocean Street Bakehouse
  • Primal Bliss Eatery
  • Subway
  • WOOD Rustic Roastery

The competition will be run through the Victor Harbor Mainstreet Facebook page and one lucky voter will win the prize of $270 worth of vouchers to spend at participating coffee venues.

At the official launch of the competition, on International Coffee day on October 1, there will be quite a bit going on in the main street.

The MG Car Club of SA will parade down Main Street at 11am, with around 30 vehicles on display at Warland Reserve afterwards.

There will be creative fun for the whole family at the Victor Harbor Artisan Market from 10am to 4pm over at Railway Tce, with market stalls a poetry slam and much more.

Of course there is lots of shopping to be had at the variety of retail shop, many of which will be having some super specials.

There will also be workshops running at The Joyfull Buddhas, Art Displays and Street Buskers around the precinct.
