Players struggled to cope with blustery conditions at Ritter Street last Saturday. Play was deemed okay to continue although several groups called it a day early in their rounds.
Michael Broadley took advantage of early average conditions. His 37 points won him the overall winners prize in the Stableford comp as well as the Pro comp.
Jeff Lipp was also an early starter and he capitalised on this by winning the "A" grade with 35 points from Ubby with 32 points.
Mitch Thomas shrugged off the conditions and won B grade with 37 points with gallant veteran Graham Edwards coming in second with his 32 points.
With the women only having a field of 4 players on the day protocol dictated that they join the mens comp and Adrienne Wright found herself as the winner of C grade with a very good 35 point score. Neil ‘Dog’ Rothe was runner up with 33 points.
Don Ruggiero and David Lubcke led the ball rundown with 32 points apiece while Damo Moloney, Joe Marcus, Jake Lienert and Buckets Jackson each scored 31 points. Even Snow Rothe, Robyn Teasdale and Gavin Sanderson got a mention for gritty 30 point efforts.
Unluckiest of all was Gavin Sanderson on the 14th where he drove to the front of the green before putting his ball up to within a foot of the pin to be looking at a safe par and 3 points.
His ball stopped but the wind was blowing a gale, Gav thought he might blow into the hole for a birdie before he could mark it.
The ball did start to move but unfortunately sideways missing the hole and finishing 20 feet away and off the green! Three shots later Gavin was picking his ball up after failing to hole out!
Another Stableford comp is scheduled this Saturday.
