Welcome: Community members, business owners, councillors and mayors were at the Callington Hall recently to celebrate the addition of a new pergola which will add more usability to the premises.

It has taken almost six years for the Callington Hall committee to see one of its ideas come to fruition, and now a new pergola will lift the appeal of the premises.

For the last 18 months fundraising from local community groups, grants from the Rural City of Murray Bridge and Mt Barker District Council and help from businesses across the region have helped to build and landscape the area.

Volunteers spent hours painting, tearing down the old structure, removing and re-laying the existing pavers and tidying the yard.

It was always a “one day” or “when we get enough money” idea.

The Landcare group developed and will maintain the adjacent nature garden which many families enjoy.

Murray Bridge Mayor Brenton Lewis and Mt Barker Mayor Anne Ferguson helped committee secretary Jodie Wegener with the formal part of the ceremony, by the unveiling of a plaque and cutting of a cake.
