Natural Resources SA Murray-Darling Basin (SAMDB) recently recognised 16 fire brigade members who had 250 years of service between them.

SAMDB regional director Mike Williams and fire management officer Jared Pippos presented 14 members with Country Fire Service Awards and two with the prestigious National Medal.

Mr Williams said he was proud of the SAMDB fire crew.

”They have been dedicated in protecting life, property and the environment, and the community genuinely appreciates their invaluable commitment and expertise,” he said.

“The Natural Resources SAMDB region fire program has proven to be highly effective in responding to very challenging fire environments and fire events.”

The awards were given out at a two-day training camp at Yokamurra Sanctuary, near Swan Reach, where 43 brigade members brushed up on their skills.
