Social Seen: It girls catch up at launch of Hermione Underwood's jewellery line

It was a who's who of the Sydney socialite scene on Tuesday morning at an intimate breakfast hosted by Hermione Underwood and Nadia Fairfax at Pam Pam boutique in Double Bay.

The It girls were joined by the likes of racing royalty Kate Waterhouse, Aje founder Edwina Robinson, and the Audience Agency's Montarna McDonald for the launch of the British-based fine jewellery collection Atelier Romy - founded by Underwood and Sabine Roemer.

Fairfax, spotted most recently gallivanting around dressed to the nines as David Jones' 2017 face of racing, collaborated with Underwood, her old friend from their Sydney PR days, on a pair of earrings in honour of the brand's launch into their old stomping ground.

"[Underwood] is now in London and I'm between Sydney and New York, so we make time for lover's travel - finding little random hotels and we just meet up there. This year we have done Apulia [southern Italy] and a little chateau in France for our catch-ups," Fairfax told Fairfax Meda.

Once referred to as "Lara Bingle's best friend", Underwood is now a force to be reckoned with in her own right, with more than 50,000 following her glossy, global travel updates on her Instagram account @hermioneolivia. As well as Atelier Romy, the Ascham-educated entrepreneur is also the founder of brand consultancy The H Collective.

When asked if she had any plans to move home, she said: "Not for now, no. I am kind of between [London and Sydney] for now, but having the businesses in London is really great and I get to come home a lot - so it's really the dream."

Why earrings for their first collaboration?

"I have always found that wearing earrings is like wearing a crown, it's like a badge of honour for being a woman and it makes you feel strong and cool and a bit more fashionable," says Fairfax, whose nickname is "Fairy" after her father, former Wallaby Russell Fairfax, and her pint-sized stature.

Staying with the eastern suburbs clique, it was another glamorous breakfast affair for the launch of renowned wedding dress and red carpet gown designer Steven Khalil's first foray into scent on Wednesday at Chiswick in Woollahra.

The man himself mingled among guests, including actor Charlotte Chimes and influencer Phoebe Burgess, with his namesake fragranceSteven Khalil Eau de Parfum in hand.

He said it has "been a long-standing dream" to create a fragrance to complement his collection, describing the scent as "evocative, easy to wear, and romantic".

On Tuesday evening, the black carpet was rolled out for the opening night of Opera Australia's much-loved production of Puccini's Madama Butterfly at the Capitol Theatre.

Never one to miss a night at the theatre was designer Carla Zampatti, dressed from head-to-toe in her own designs (of course!) including her trademark shades.

"Firstly, I need them and secondly I feel more dressed when I wear sunglasses, I think after a while it becomes a habit," she told Social Seen recently.
