Unsung heroes who make a positive difference are being sought for Murray Bridge’s 2018 Australia Day awards.
Nominations close this Friday for awards in seven categores: community initiative, event, junior sports person and sports person, volunteer, young citizen and citizen of the year.
Mayor Brenton Lewis said the awards were about recognising and celebrating those who went above and beyond to make clubs thrive, events happen, the economy prosper or pride, safety and progress flourish.
Thanking them would inspire others, he said.
“Without community volunteers we wouldn’t have local CFS, a visitor information centre, sport and recreation clubs, business and industry groups, or fundraising and special events, to name a few,” he said.
“I urge you to take the time and submit a nomination for someone you believe is deserving of an accolade.
“This could be a friend, workmate, someone at your sports club or community association or someone you know doing great work serving the community.”
