Mannum’s annual rock music spectacular, Sounds by the River, has been inducted into the South Australian Tourism Hall of Fame for being named the state’s best festival or event for three consecutive years.
The concert was not the only local winner, either – the river boat Proud Mary was named best specialised tourism service.
The wins were announced at the SA Tourism Awards at the Adelaide Convention Centre on Friday night.
SATIC chief executive officer Shaun de Bruyn the winners could be proud for having been chosen from among 174 nominees.
The state’s tourism industry is on track to reach a value of $8 billion by 2020.
