Leading industry employers will showcase career pathways within their organisations when Jobex comes to Murray Bridge next Thursday.
Some of the region’s main employers in Viterra, Thomas Foods International and the Costa Group will be among those providing career information for prospective local employees.
Costa Group corporate affairs manager Michael Toby said the region was often looked over in terms of food and produce production, and maintaining a Murraylands focus was imperative for the company’s success.
“There seems to be a focus on the northern areas of Adelaide, but we think it’s important to acknowledge how vital this area is to our industry,” he said.
“That’s why we’re going to showcase what we might be able to offer potential local employees,” he said.
Mr Toby said the company would require roughly an extra 200 employees once its expansion was complete.
“We will really be ramping up the recruitment over the next 18 months, and it has started with these expos,’ he said.
Mr Toby said the majority of these roles would be for pickers, but Costa would be seeking candidates looking to progress their careers in horticulture, and they were expecting to see many at the coming expo.
“There was a lot of interest at our stall during the Adelaide expo, and we’re expecting just as much if not more in Murray Bridge because of the industry’s importance in the region,” Mr Toby said.
Mr Toby said there would be extensive information for job seekers, and expected they would be satisfied with the options.
State Employment Minister Kyam Maher said Jobex would help ensure that the state continued to be the place where people and businesses thrive.
“We want students and graduates to choose careers in industries that keep them here in South Australia and I encourage them to attend so they can explore, and create, their own exciting futures,” he said.
The Jobex roadshow kicked off on November 10 at the Adelaide Convention Centre and will travel to Pt Augusta on November 20 and Murray Bridge on November 23.
- Location: Unity College, Owl Drive, Murray Bridge
- Time: 10am-7pm
