Unemployment in Murray Bridge has fallen from 10.2 per cent to 8.9pc over the past year, according to the federal Department of Employment.
The department's figures, which recorded progress up to the June quarter, were equally encouraging elsewhere in the Murraylands.
The area surrounding Murray Bridge – including Wellington, Jervois and Mypolonga – also recorded a 1.3pc drop in unemployment; the jobless rate was down 1pc in Mannum and the Coorong; and Strathalbyn, Karoonda and Lameroo had falls as well.
In all, the department estimated, 231 fewer people were unemployed in the region.
Member for Barker Tony Pasin said the national figures, which showed 371,500 jobs had been created in the past 12 months, proved Coalition programs were working.
"We are seeing the results from policies that include lower taxes for small business, record investment in infrastructure and new export agreements," he said.
