Marshall Conveyancing owner Jess Caire made an emotional announcement at a breakfast for women in Murray Bridge’s property industry on Tuesday morning.
She will sell her business to Johnston Withers Lawyers, a larger firm which she said shared her values of community, social justice and outstanding customer service.
For Ms Caire, that will mean the end of a commute between Brisbane and Murray Bridge, though not her involvement with the company – she will work remotely.
“It has been a huge privilege to work in this community and to give back,” she said.
About 25 women attended the breakfast at the riverfront cafe Riverscape, in Murray Bridge.
Tickets to the breakfast raised $350 for ovarian cancer research.
Guest speaker Jane Carey spoke about the need for business owners to be resilient.
“Business owners don’t have a choice but to be,” she said.
“If you’re not resilient, don’t go into business.”
