Fire threat passes at Monarto South, Sherlock, Malinong

The Country Fire Service advises that the threat posed by a fire at near Bremer Range Road at Monarto South has reduced.

Smoke will remain visible in the area for some time while CFS crews continue to work at the scene.

Be careful on the roads.

Smoke will reduce visibility and trees and branches may fall.

Take care in the fire area over the next few days.

Residents should check their properties for any fires and embers, particularly in roof spaces, under decks, raised floors and in gutters.

3.45pm Wednesday

The Country Fire Service have advised that a bushfire at Monarto South near Bremer Range Road may threaten your safety.

Check and follow your Bushfire Survival Plan. If you are not prepared, leave now. Only leave if the path is clear to a safer place.

The fire is travelling in a south-westerly direction towards Chaunceys Line Road.

The fire is uncontrolled and burning in stubble – conditions are continually changing.

Significant smoke will be visible from the South Eastern Freeway.

You should not enter this area as the roads may not be safe.

3.40pm Wednesday

The CFS have reported a grass fire on Peter Road at Sherlock has been contained. 

Three trucks from Peake, Coomandook and Sherlock attended the scene. 

Stubble and a hay bale were burned in the fire. 

Meanwhile, a grass fire in Malinong has been contained. 

Around 10 hectares of crop were burned during the fire. 

Three crews attended the scene and controlled the fire in around half an hour.

The CFS received reports of lightning strikes in the area.
