Peter Hood Holden was one of thirty dealers across Australia that have not had their agreements renewed – a decision made by General Motors Holden (GMH) management.

Dealer principal Matthew Hood said it had come as a shock, and he was disappointed by the process.

“The most disappointing thing was that none of the panel visited the dealer or met with me or any of the staff,” he said.

Mr Hood said they will continue to trade, moving forward as Peter Hood Motors from on January 2 2018.

They will continue to sell used vehicles and the service department will continue to operate on all makes and models.

Mr Hood said that Peter Hood Motors will still be able to service Holden vehicles including the capped-price servicing despite any correspondence customers may receive from Holden.

The State Liberals have expressed outrage at the treatment of Holden dealers across SA by General Motors Holden (GMH), as a number of dealerships have had their dealer agreements terminated.

The matter will be referred the matter to the Small Business Commissioner to investigate what recourse these dealers have, Member for Hartley Vincent Tarzia said.

The building was originally a Chevrolet dealer prior to becoming Holden.

The current dealership was built in 1998 - a requirement of Holden.

In 2014 further improvements were made. Peter Hood Holden has employed many local people over the years and contributed thousands of dollars to local sporting clubs and charities.

The business will also launch the 'Meningie Computer Sales and Service' venture headed by Daniel Poyner.

They have been appointed as an official Leader computer dealer and will be selling and stocking leading brands of computer equipment and accessories.
