Tintinara has emerged as winners through the State Government’s Fund My Neighbourhood initiative, after three projects were successfully awarded $220,000 in funding.
Projects including a new interactive outdoor play space at the sports grounds at a cost of $144,150, the revitalisation of Lake Indawarra, $57,800 and a large mural for the Heart of the Parks tourist centre at $18,003.
Over 4,000 residents voted to decide the winners for the region, which also included two Murray Bridge projects.
Coorong Mayor Neville Jaensch said the successful recipients would bring light to the town.
“This was an initiative that really gave power to the people to be able to vote for the projects that they believed would best benefit their town, and clearly, these three were standouts,” he said.
“Not only will these projects help revitalise the town … but also deliver flow-on tourism benefits to the region at large, by encouraging visitors and travellers to stop and see what else the Coorong region has to offer.”
