Fire crews battle blazes in region

Meningie Shed Fire

A shed fire which broke out at Meningie on December 1 at Seven Mile Road.

According to a tweet release by the Country Fire Service Talk Twitter a number of CFS appliances and crew with breathing apparatus attended the scene.

The shed was allegedly destroyed with an estimated cost of $100,000.

A police spokesman has said the cause of the fire is undetermined at this stage, but is suspected to have started from an electrical fault.

Two other fires were battled by crews yesterday, one in Caloote and one in Mypolonga. 

Caloote Haystack Fire

CFS advised that a haystack fire at Caloote caused smoke to be seen in the Mannum Road and Rathjen Road area.

CFS crews were on scene attending the fire and continued to monitor the fire throughout the day.

Smoke was visible from the area for a number of hours.

Mypolonga Chicken Manure Fire

The CFS advised at 1.36pm yesterday that the threat posed by the Mypolonga fire near Billabong Road and Coolibah Drive has reduced.

The fire was burning in a large pile of chicken manure until crews contained the blaze at around 1pm yesterday.

The CFS asked residents to take care in the fire area over the next few days.

Check property for any fires and embers - particularly in roof spaces, under decks, raised floors and in gutters.
