As the holidays loom closer South Australian fishers are being asked to be aware when fishing for snapper.
Around the state recreational and commercial fishers can hook snapper, except in four areas of the Spencer Gulf and one in the Gulf St Vincent which will be closed until the end of January due to spawning.
Fisheries Minister Leon Bignell said fisheries officers would continue to patrol popular fishing spots and maintain a focus on the snapper fishery over summer.
“It’s important we preserve this highly valued and popular species for future generations to enjoy, so I ask all fishers – commercial, recreational and charter – to fish responsibly,” Mr Bignell said.
