‘Team Coorong’ was led by Tailem Bend’s Wayne Richardson, who led the team to claim sixth place overall, as they took to the track during last weekend’s first Revolve24 event on Australian soil.

Thousands of cycling enthusiasts flocked to The Bend Motorsport Park to witness the first major event held at the park, along with Stage 3 of the Santos Women’s Tour Down Under.

The team was sponsored by the Coorong District Council and the Revolve24 organisers in a bid to see a local team make an appearance.

Mr Richardson took up cycling to stay fit after the 56 year-old recovered from a broken back 10 years ago and has since developed a great passion for the sport.

“Although the conditions were challenging at times, it was still the best surface I’ve ever ridden on,” he said.

“No one really knew what to expect...but people’s faces looked stunned when they saw just how incredible the facility...was.”
