Police stop Murray Bridge woman who replaced straw used in alcohol breath tests as gear stick

Police have arrested a woman for a number of traffic offences and had her car defected after she was stopped in Murray Bridge last night.

The 33 year-old woman from Murray Bridge was stopped just after midnight on Adelaide Road when police noticed an unusual addition to her vehicle.

Upon closer inspection of her vehicle, it was observed by police that a straw used in alcohol breath tests was being used in place of the gear stick.

Checks on her licence also revealed she was disqualified from driving and that she was driving an uninsured and unregistered vehicle.

The vehicle was subsequently defected and impounded for 28 days.

She will appear in the Murray Bridge Magistrates Court on March 5.
