South Australia's state election is now just over five weeks away.

You can already register as a postal voter; and anyone who has not voted before, or who has moved house recently, must update their enrolment by 12 noon on February 23.

Anyone wishing to run as a candidate must submit a nomination by February 23 or 26, depending whether they are a member of a party.

The election campaign will not officially begin until February 17, when SA’s Governor will issue the writs.

But as Premier Jay Weatherill and Opposition Leader Steven Marshall's visits to the Murraylands last week proved, the pitches are already being rolled out.

Voters will be able to cast their votes by post, at pre-poll centres or with the ECSA's mobile voting service, which will visit remote areas, from March 7.

Polling places will be open between 8am and 6pm on election day, March 17.

  • Update your enrolment, register for a postal vote: www.ecsa.sa.gov.au, 1300 655 232 or visit any Australia Post outlet.
