Lutheran Blue v Jervois

All Lower Murray Hardcourt junior doubles matches between Lutheran Blue and Jervois were well contested with the match between the more experienced first doubles being close with all players making great shots.

In the third and fourth doubles matches the more junior players of Lutheran Blue acquitted themselves well against the more experienced Jervois side, with good rallies throughout the games.

Jervois were eventual winners in all four doubles matches.

In the singles match between Lutheran’s Riley Lienert and Jervois’ Hayley Bradley, Lienert warmed to the task, executing some great shots to run out the eventual winner, 6-2.

Shawna Denman and Brad Haslem had a great tussle and were evenly matched. Hasmlem managed to get the final shots required to edge out his opposition to win the game 6-5.

The game between Andrew Ahrens and Lachlan Gale demonstrated great rallies and excellent winning shots from both players.

In an evenly contested match Ahrens was the winner of the tie-break.

Jervois won five of the singles matches and were too strong for Lutheran Blue winning the overall contest 9-3.

Lutheran Red v Lutheran White

There were some really long, hard fought games on Saturday when Lutheran White met Lutheran Red at home.

Bradley Zadow and Ryan Lee worked the ball around the court well, making a great team for White, but unfortunately the strong force of Jordan and Branden Hein were just too good as the Hein brothers came away with a 6-4 win.

Liam Joppich and Edward Rigney (White) played an amazing game against Oscar Merritt and Lachlan Mann (Red) which was the longest game of the day.

Liam and Edward came out winners (6-4) but all players on the court had an entertaining time trying to outdo each other.

Mikayla Joppich and Caitlin Koop (White), playing in their first time as a doubles team, fought hard for their 6-5 win against Brock Kowald and Courtney Merritt.

The single games were as tightly matched with Jordan and Branden Hein again proving too strong for their opponents.

Dudley Rigney (White) had a great match against Mathew Kubenk (Red) eventually coming out the victor, while Jordan Adams (Red) played a fantastic game against Harry Rigney (White) taking the match 6-2.

It was a nail-biting finish.

The last game being played between Liam Joppich and Oscar Merritt was a ping pong event with multiple deuce and advantages in almost every game which resulted with an even number of sets won

Finally it came down to the game count and Lutheran Red finished up winning the match with a six-game lead.

Mannum Green v Mannum Gold

In the final local derby for the 2017-18 season, results could not have been any closer with Mannum Green getting over the line by eight games.

Green won the top two doubles matches, with Gold winning the last two, despite a close match in the final double, with Chelsea Hartley and Lachlan Sontag winning 6-5.

Big shot: Jervois' Tegan Afford puts all her strength into her forehand during a hardcourt match on Saturday.

The singles matches results were evenly spread with each of the team winning four sets.

Two-set winners for Green were Elise Horstmann, Matt Craig and Brock Treloar, while for Gold it was Amber Weber, Brianna Weber and Lachlan Sontag.

Brock Treloar played Ebony Weber in singles at the number three spot, with the final game having 17 deuces  before Treloar won the match 6-3.

With the last match on the court, Green was leading 6-5 on the score sheet.

Sontag and Jasmine Chadwick had an evenly contested match, before Sontag got over the line, 6-5 and levelled the set score.

Final Score: Green defeated Gold, 6 sets, 55 games to 6 sets, 47 games.
