AFL historian Peter LInes has released his fourth book on South Australian country football.

His fourth book,  'South Australian Country Football Digest – Volume II' will be out in time for the upcoming 2018 football season.

The 422-page book if full of anecdotes, player profiles, history and up-to-date records of every league and club in  South Australian country football.

The book is a complete rework of the original Country Football Digest with over 100 new team photos, 50 new player profiles and new stories on the histories of more than 150 leagues.

Mr Lines said the Digest was written in three sections in the same style as the original edition.

“The first section contains brief histories of every association and league that has ever been formed,” he said.

“The second section covers a range of country football records from most games played, most goals scored  to most years as a coach, captain and even most best and fairest awards.

“Long serving administrators at league and club level are also recognised and there is even a list of 71 country football ovals and their dimensions.

“Also on hand are club records for highest scores, most premierships, premiership droughts and interclub rivalry trophies.

“The final section of the book contains lists of every SA country bred footballer who has gone on to have a career in SANFL or AFL/VFL football.”

The digest is on sale in newsagencies and bookstores around the state, including Murray Bridge Newsagency & Toyworld and Karoonda Newsagency or email bplines@bigpond.com or phone 0438 819 391.

Some of the proceeds of the book sales will go towards the Cancer Council SA.
