Queensland's sauna-like conditions are set to stick around until Friday, with the high humidity making it a sweaty wait for the weekend in the Sunshine State.

In what is set to be the warmest day of the week, Brisbane has been forecast to hit 36C on Wednesday, Toowoomba 39C, Rockhampton 39C and Longreach 45C.

Tuesday saw temperatures soar in the outback, when Windorah recorded its hottest February day on record, reaching 45.5, while Winton also reached 45.

Bureau of Meteorology forecaster Annabelle Sord told AAP the humid conditions and high temperatures are only expected to ease on Friday.

"There's really high humidity, which has made it feel even hotter," Ms Sord said.

"By Friday it should get a few degrees cooler and the humidity should drop."
