It looks like a trip to America and a new car is on the cards for Murray Bridge’s latest X Lotto millionaire.
The only winner of the division one draw in the Monday and Wednesday X Lotto is a retiree in Murray Bridge who wished to remain anonymous and enjoy his win privately.
The lucky ticket was purchased from Mount Barker Central Newsagency and the winner expressed his disbelief when an SA Lotteries official confirmed his win on Monday morning.
“That’s unbelievable. I can’t even imagine that,” he said.
“I found out early (Monday) morning when I checked the ticket, but still I can’t grasp it, or get over that amount of money.
“We’ve been normal people on a normal wage all our lives and my goodness, I don’t know what to say.
The soon-to-be millionaire said that while he plans to be financially savvy with the winnings, he would also treat himself to a new car and overseas trip to visit family in America.
“I think what we’ll do is put it in a high interest account and leave it there for a little while,” he said.
“We’ll take out a little bit and probably buy a new car.
“We’ve got a clapped out Holden that is about 14 years old so it’s time for an upgrade.
“We will also probably go over to America to visit family. We went a few years ago and thought it would be the only trip we’ll ever get to do.
“Now we’ll be able to go and spend a bit of time there which will be good.”
Owner of Mount Barker Central Newsagency Robert Staples said he was thrilled to have sold another division one winning entry.
“I’ve been here eight years and haven’t had a winner, and now we’ve had two division one winners in just six weeks,” he said.
“We hope the customer is happy with the prize and we hope we can make it three in a row for another one of our customers.”
The winning numbers in the X Lotto draw were 6, 31, 5, 4, 7 and 32, while the supplementary numbers were 36 and 44.
