Labor will establish a $500,000 fund for regional street art, building on the success of Coonalpyn’s silos, if it wins the upcoming election.
Artists and organisations would be able to apply for grants of between $10,000 and $50,000 for public artworks.
Premier Jay Weatherill said the installation of extra art would encourage more people to visit regional South Australia.
“Projects such as the Coonalpyn silo murals have attracted national attention and given visitors another reason to stop and enjoy what this wonderful regional town has to offer,” he said.
“Through our popular Fund My Neighbourhood program, four regional street art projects also received funding, demonstrating the high level of community support for these types of projects in regional South Australia.
“That is why we are investing in artistic endeavours in our regions.”
