The Murray Bridge council should agree to fund an upgrade of Callington’s sporting clubrooms, according to a poll of Murray Valley Standard readers.
Just 23 people voted in a poll attached to a story about the $700,000 proposal, of which the council is being asked to contribute $100,000.
But 74 per cent said the council should get involved, as the facility was important to the community.
Two members of the Callington Recreation Park committee, Rose Ashton and Clive Wundersitz, spoke to Murray Bridge councillors about the project at their February meeting.
The council agreed to consider the request as part of their 2018-19 budget deliberations.
The Mount Barker council has reportedly agreed to put in more than $200,000 for the upgrade.
The boundary between the two council districts runs along the Bremer River which divides Callington’s east and west.
