Callington scrub fire contained by Country Fire Service, farm fire units

A fire in grass and scrub on Highlands Road at Callington has been contained, the Country Fire Service has now reported.

However, smoke may still be seen in the area while fire crews continue to mop up and make things safe.

Emergency vehicles will continue to go in and out of the area for several hours, so motorists should stay clear.

The earlier watch and act message has been revoked.

A watch and act message has been issued by the CFS for a bushfire at Callington near Highland Road, Old Murray Road and Browns Road.

It is advised that the fire may pose a threat to those in the area and for residents to follow their bushfire plan if not properly prepared to leave now via a clear exit route.

The fire is uncontrolled and burning in scrub, travelling in a northerly direction towards Disher Hill Road.

Conditions are continually changing and people are warned not to enter the area as roads may not be safe.
