South Australian Police have published an online child sex offenders register following an amendment of the Child Sex Offenders Registration Act 2006.
The changes allow police to publish specific details of convicted offenders, including full name and date of birth.
The information will include photos of registered offenders who have failed to report to police or have provided false or misleading information to police or whose whereabouts are unknown.
At the moment there are two offenders on the website and any new registrations will be added according to the regulations - details will be removed when the offenders is located by police.
Police are warning the public and media that it is a criminal offence to misuse the website information as publication or distribution of details must have prior written approval from the Police minister.
