POLICE, State Emergency Services and Metropolitan Fire Services were called out to a truck rollover in Murray Bridge today.
The truck was transporting about 3500 chickens when it over turned on the corner of Cypress Terrace and Mannum Road at about 10.30am.
The driver was trapped in the wreckage and had to be rescued.
A South Australian Police (SAPOL) spokeswoman said the driver didn't appear to have any serious injuries.
A Primary Industries and Regions South Australia (PIRSA) spokesperson said a biosecurity officer attended the crash site to assess the welfare of the chickens owned by Inghams.
He said a number of chickens had died on impact and more would need to be humanely put down this afternoon.
PIRSA Biosecurity officers estimated a maximum of 200 chickens would die as a result of the crash.
A crane attended to the truck which was removed at 1.55pm today.
SAPOL said police would remain on the scene until at least 4pm.
