Man and woman suffer minor burns in paddle boat explosion on Murray River

A man and a woman have been taken to the Murray Bridge Hospital with minor burns after a paddle boat exploded and went up in flames on the Murray River at Wellington East this afternoon.

Country Fire Service Region 3 commander Richard Coombe said crews were called around 1.40pm and it took three crews to extinguish the fire.

He said the two people were taken off the vessel by ambulance crews and attended to before they were taken to hospital.

He said the damage was estimated at $50,000 and there was not much left of the boat.

Police crime investigation were on the scene and will look into the cause of the fire.
