A family man from Murray Bridge is looking forward to helping his family after scratching one of the top prizes of $100,000 on an Instant Scratch-Its $5 ticket.

The thrilled man purchased the winning ticket from the Southside Newsagent on Swanport Road, according to The Lott.

“I bought $20 worth of scratchies three weeks ago and have had a few smaller wins, each time I won I reinvested in the next round of scratchies,” the man said.

“Just last week I won $25 and used it to buy the next lot which included the last two on the roll and I didn’t think I’d have any luck.

“I thought to myself ‘surely someone has won the big one already’ but it turned out it was me.”

The overjoyed man said he scratched the winning ticket at home using his lucky five-cent coin.

“I use the same five-cent coin to scratch all of my scratchies and used it to scratch this one,” he said.

“I saw the numbers come up, but kept it quiet from the family so they didn’t get too excited.

“I couldn’t believe it until it was confirmed, but now I will be able to share the good news.”

The man, who wished to remain anonymous, said he planned to do some work around the house and help his family with the $100,000 Instant Scratch-Its win.

Southside newsagent Barbara Smyth said it was great to see one of her local customers win the top prize.

“We’ve been here 12 years and we sold a $750,000 top prize Instant Scratch-Its about eight years ago so it was time our customers had another win,” she said.

“We are so stoked to hear it is a regular customer – it’s fantastic.

“Congratulations to the customer – we hope they enjoy their prize.”
